100% agree. You guys have a special bond that doesn't happen all of the time. I once had "that" dog. He gave me the best 12 years of my life. He died 3 years ago and I assumed all dogs were like him...The next dog I adopted is very troubled (unknown to me when I adopted her) and I can't do all of the things I lived for with my soul dog - it's a heartbreaking. I am more like her mom, than her partner (not that I wasn't Tovi's mom too, but in a different way). I write a lot about our complicated relationship as a way to try to find some sort of meaning and purpose for it. I know she needs me, and I am a great dog mom to her, but internally it's tough. Treasure every single moment and congrats on finding your soul dog, and congrats to Dezi for finding an AMAZING mom :)
