Great article, as always. After my dog died, I became obsessed with learning everything I could about grief related to pet loss and planned to start a support group, but COVID... During my research, I came across a great deal of information on the high rates of suicide in vets due to not only what they see on a daily basis, but from bullying and blaming from their clients. This was totally shocking to me. I don't think people think about this. I can't imagine what a tough position that must be. I have seen people blame the vet (yes, sometimes this can be accurate but in most cases not) for not saving their pet - emotions run high at those times and we often look to someone to blame to make sense of what happened. The weight of that backlash has to take a toll and it breaks my heart. I interviewed my vet to see how this resonated with the average vet and it was eye opening how much emotion he took home. I don't think the average person realizes this. Once again, thank you for your service.
