Great article! I think for me it is frustration that my dog picks up on. She is so overly protective of the home that we need to keep her in a room when guests are present. We have tried high value treats thrown in her direction when someone comes in, and she may be distracted for a few seconds, and will even allow the person to come into the home, apprehensively, but she is unpredictable - no warnings which makes it most difficult and dangerous. She has been sitting on a couch with a guest allowing to be pet for some time and then will snap and attempt to viscously bite out of no where. She exhibits there behaviors only in the home. She also goes crazy when anyone walks past our house. This is hard for me because I've never had a dog who has aggressive tendencies. A lot of grief was involved for the first few years, and it still pops us up sometimes, even though I am trying to get to a point of acceptance so she doesn't sense my frustration which may be affecting our bond. I have written 2 honest articles about her aggression coming between us. One talks about us both being on Prozac - me being anxious doesn't help the situation. Anyway, thanks for reminding me of being mindful of my state of mind.
