Oh Pam, this is absolutely gorgeous. I admire your candor. It sounds to me like Inky had all the love in the world from you and that is what mattered the most. Decades ago we treated dogs differently in terms of health and grooming because we don't know what we do now. Please don't shame yourself. I had a family dog who I also deeply regret the way he was treated by a family that didn't spend much time with him. You have inspired me to share his story which has caused a lot of bottled up shame. For that, I thank you.
