While I cannot understand the additional challenges of having no choice but to go through AI/IVF, I did have to go through that in attempts to get pregnant which made the decision so much more intentional and I totally overthink (ed?)my intentions. Once we considered how much we enjoy our freedom and advanced age of my husband, we also came to terms with it. I love how you point out how in many aspects, the choice is made for us.
