Wow, what a great read! Thank you for being so vulnerable and sharing your experiences. I think about these scenarios more than I "should" (but who is to say) when driving. I was hit by a speeding car right before the pandemic - spun 3 lanes, car totaled but walked out with no injuries. I was afraid to drive though, hypersensitive on the road and with the pandemic arriving 2 weeks later I didn't have a need to get back on the highway. Now that things are opening up and I have appts to go to, I am relearning how to drive. Like really, taking lessons - Even though I did nothing wrong, it has led to a fear of driving. Unfortunately, since then I have had some close calls - a mentally ill man ironically walked in front of my car and I swerved not to hit him and realized I could have hit a car had anyone been next to me. I find driving terrifying and not quite sure where my journey will go. I agree that we live in a world built around driving and it's really hard when it's the thing that scares you the most.
